Spring Hill

I just got back from Spring Hill, Fl. The weather was good for the Gyro's but rough for the Older planes that followed.
Cliff and Don and there crew did a bang up job of your every need. Except they gave us a cross wind sometimes when we didn't want it. I took my Gyrace, 2 Whistler's and one Giant Whistler( Whistlers Mother in - Law) I had good flights on all four. I also had a few that were not that good. I had been flying my Giant Whistler on A of A's Kellet's blades and was doing a good job for me. Phil Ploof let me borrow a set of his 10" shorter blades and then I flew the Big Whistler again. I had to land and program some more down trim into it. I when up again and still ran out of trim, even after moving the Battery forward also. It was nice seeing Phil, Bill F., Hal DeBolt, and others. They was a lot of spectators asking a lot of questions. The Bull sessions were nice also. I am ready to do it again but will have to wait until Cincy I guess. Jim |
Spring Hill
Jim,
I would have liked to have been there but it was not possible to get away. I am looking forward to having the fall fly-in here in Cincinnati and seeing every one again. |

Dale,
I thought maybe you might be able to show since you have a winter place. The snow and Ice is bad where you are according to the people I have been talking to. BTW I did get Peoples choice at Spring Hill. There was one Gyro Bee there but had trouble and did not last long. Jim PS Thats Bill F. working on one of his. |
Spring Hill Pilots

Jim & Hal's comments just about covered my feeling of the week-end. It couldn't have been much better. I will be posting some video clips and pictures as time permits. I have attached one picture of the pilots. Jim Sanders showed up with his two Kelletts on Saturday and didn't make the picture but gave us a good demo. I think the electric version is still getting mods.

Dale may answer you soon. WE are going to have a Auto Gyro meet in that area in Sept. but not sure how many Auto Gyro Flyers they have in that area. Probally not to many this month anyway. Jim |

Spring Hill
Allan,
Send me an email and i will send you the details of our fall autogyro fly in. When it gets warmer outside i will be flying my autogyro's again and i will let you know when i will have them at the field. By the way i am a member of GCRCC so we are not that far from each other. Currently i have a gyrobee from A of A and a small profile model designed by Jim Baxter call a Simple G. I have to put them both back together to get them flying again when it got cold outside i swiped the gear out of them and put it in my SPADs . Even though it has been cold and nasty a couple of us die hards have been out flying at least once a week. The nice thing about coroplast airplanes is that they will bounce out of a field with only a broken prop and the occasional broken motor mount so they are perfect for some of the winter time insanity. They are also very quick and cheap to build. |
Spads and what not
Dale,
I am getting my first spad, the HOR (hell on rails) model as soon as my receiver shows up. This will be my first combat plane, I am flying in the Havok over Hamilton. It's open to all who want to fly some combat. I have been out flying a couple times, once with skis, but not since that last warm Sunday we had. Anyway, I will send you an email. |
