Default A123's (unregulated) and (Spectrum) DS821 & (HITEC) HS85

The question I have pertains to A123's and standard 6v servo's. I am reconfiguring the radio installation in a Sundowner this winter upgrading to a A123 reciever pack, and I am wondering about the Hitec HS85 (Throttle) and DS821's control surface servo's. They are rated for 6 volts and I normally ran 5 cell NIMH packs, but there voltage comes down fairly quick. Has anyone experienced any problems with these servo's on A123's. I have googled this topic and come up with all kinds of responces, and Horizon told me it was not recommended with there 6V servo's (voltage to high).

A NiCdhot off the charger puts out 7 volts. An A123 hot off the charger puts out 7.2. If the servos can take one, they can take the other.

Possibly a voltage regulator may work for you.

I thought that is the whole idea of a123's, no regulator needed.

I run 6V servo's off LiFePO4 for the last 7 months. No issues and no servo problems. No regulator either. Many of my club mates do the same and only issues with particular brand and model servo has ever been problematic; the JR NES539. Even towerpro SG5010 work off unregulated A123 and LiFePO4 battery packs. Some manufacturers will only recommend 6V nickel batteries because that is what they sell.

If these are rated for 6V they can be driven by A123 battery packs. Thats the point that everyone is trying to convey

I will go ahead and use them then.
