Hitec X4 AC Plus - how good is it?

Hitec X4 AC Plus - how good is it?
It's time for me to replace my aging Sommer miniron charger. As most of my packs (NiMH, NiCd, A123) are small, I think 50W per channel is sufficient. The miniron wasn't to great at delta peak detection for NiMH and as I will be using it mostly to charge Sanyo eneloops (4-cells, 8-cells, single cells). I would like to get some feedback from current users on how reliable the delta peak detection is with eneloops. Thanks.

Steve, how reliable is the delta peak detection for NiMH? How many % (roughly) of your NiMH charges are terminated correctly by the delta peak detection? What is the delta peak setting you typically use for NiMH (mV/cell), and the charging rate? Thanks for your inputs on this.

Mike,
I have one of the Hitec chargers you mentoned. To date, I have had complete satisfaction with all battery chemistries I utilize, including NiMh, NiCd, LiFe, A123, and Pb. I have a 2000mA 8 cell eneloop pack I purchased from Hangtime Hobbyies www.hangtimes.comfor my JR 12X transmitter. I have charged the pack at 200mA with the default peak detect setting, and after correspondence from Hangtime, 100mA with the default peak detect setting. Hangtime also recommends a temperature probe as a backup, but I have not done this. The charger has shut off properly every time I have used it in this mode. The charger has an adjustable delta peak detection setting of 5mV/cell - 20mV/cell. It does not state the value of the default setting. Hope this helps.

Mike I think the default setting for delta peak is 7mv. I have one of the Hitec's and use it for lipo's and NIMH's without any issues. Only drawback is from trying to translate the programming manual and it comes in English. I love the charger, but hate the instructions.
