Hi,
I know the I charger 106b has a foam cutting setting, any other chargers that do the same?

Astroflight 110D is what I use. You can pick them up cheap on auction sites and swap meets. It is a Nicad charger but you can put it into diagnostic mode and control the power to the wire directly with the knob. Just hold the button down while powering up the charger.

049flyer,
Do you know the amp output as I need to power a 48" wire?

I'm sorry but I don't know the required amp output. But I do know that my 27 inch wire draws 1 amp to cut blue foam using braided steel wire. I would think that your 48 inch wire would use less than 2 amps.

It will output up to 8 amps when charging. Not sure about the max output when cutting foam. However, I have turned it up high enough to melt the wire by mistake.

The Astroflight 110D can often be found CHEAP at swap meets or auction sites as it charges only Nicad batteries and most people have only Lipo these days. Not many know of it's foam cutting capabilities. Several other Astroflight chargers will also cut foam, you'll have to root around on the web for more info as I don't remember.
