Default mixing receiver batteries in a two battery set up....?

I have a large scale Super Sportster with a 30 Gas DLE... I purchased it from a friend and it is set up with two NiMh batteries ..each 4 cell.... One of the batteries is not taking a full charge and runs down to quick... I have a good 5 cell NiMh battery that I could use in this two battery set up... can I mix the one 4 cell with one 5 cell... each with connections in the receiver... This set up has worked very well for 2 years until now and the one cell is not holding a good charge...

Are there any concerns that I should have with a two battery setup in one receiver....?

It wouldn't be advisable to use batteries of different types or voltages on any kind of dual battery setup I can think of.

Only if you want to burn up a battery and maybe the plane it's installed in.

You cannot connect batteries of different voltages in parallel.

If one of those old cells are failing, the rest are not far behind. If you value your plane, replace all the batteries with known good ones and save yourself a lot of greif

You can use batteries of different capacity, but they must be the same voltage. Get a couple of 2 cell LiFe batts.

GOOD ADVICE FOR SURE from radfordc. These are what feeds my 30cc edge for 2 years now..............Tower Hobbies has some good packs as well and lots of other places as well............the 6.6 volt will work with most setups without the need for regulators.

You can buy a BEC (Battery Eliminator Circuit) and run your DLE ignition off the Receiver pack...I do this in my 30cc gas birds because at that size and below it really does add a good amount of weight to have two batteries, wires, switches, etc.

I use Hobbyking 6.5 volt (two cell) a 1100 ma for ignition and a 1700 for receiver, in a DLE 35 ra, Escapade MX. works well, charges fast and is inexpensive. Any doubtful packs should be quickly discarded, no exceptions.
