Default Power Supply for Field Charging Large (6S) Batteries ?

Hi All, For field charging large batteries (6S 5000 mah for example), do most people use one of the small (1000 - 2000 watt) inverter type generators ? Is this the preferred setup ?
I am assuming that trying to charge a battery of this size from the car battery is not a real good option ?

Thanks. Bob
