Where I live we just had a major weather change from temperate temperatures to frigid, fall to late fall transition. I don't know if that has anything to do with it. The battery is about a year old, however its only been used around 20 times, a bit less than that.

The change in weather didn't have anything to do with it, as long as the pack weren't stored outside and directly exposed to the humidity, rain, fog... etc.
And even then, the change in temperatures wouldn't have as much effect as the other elements. They might cause the pack to self-discharge by shorting out the internal wiring or the main discharge leads.
Regardless, the pack is toast and needs to be safely disposed of.
