Is it true?

It depends on how long you want to wait before it is charged.
You should measure the current (not the voltage) that the charger is trying to put into that battery pack.
Plug the pack into the charger's output and put a milliamp meter in series with one charge lead to measure current under charge.
Divide that current into the milliamp-hour rating of the battery and then add 30% more time (in hours)
That's how long you will have to wait before the battery is fully charged.
I suspect that if the 6 volt pack is larger than 1000 milliamp-hours, you should really get a suitable charger.
Plenty of aftermarket chargers out there. I'll let others doe the recommending.

Is it true that I can charge a 6 volt Nicd pack with my 4.8 volt wall RX, TX, charger?
I have been told yes it will work.
Thanks.
Pat

RE: Is it true?
If you have an extra wall wart charger around, cut the end off the transmitter lead and put on a lead for your flight pack. You'll get 75 ma out of it. Been doing this for years on my 5 cell 1100 ma packs. No high dollar charger for me, just wall warts and a timer.

The newer Futaba wall warts charge at 100/70 tx/rx. I always charge my 1700 mah, 5 cell rx battery using the wall wart and it works great. I don't mind the wait. I just plan ahead. It charges the thing to full capacity and seems to last longer than my peak charger.

RE: Is it true?
you can not fix the voltage and fix the current at the same time. this would imply a fixed resistance. it is not easy to tell by looking a a charger whether it is a constant voltage or constant current type. cell type usally tells the charger the shutoff value.
