Default Battery Charging, Please Help

I bought a Marathon 1400 mAh standard hump Ni-MH battery and want to charge it properly (I know nothing about battery charging). I will be charging this battery on the following charger; Hobbico Quick Field Charger MKII pro series. It is capable of the following (Nicd 1-8 cells) (Ni-MH 1-8 cells) (Li-Ion 1-3 cells) The Amps settings are as follows; (0.2 - 0.4 - 0.6 - 0.8 - 1.0 - 1.2 - 1.4 - 1.6 - 1.8 - 2.0)

My first question is, according to the Amps settings shown above; (A) -At what Amps setting should I charge this battery for the first time? (B) -At what Amps setting should I charge it every time thereafter (everyday use charge)?

My second question is what would be the answers for (A) and (B) for the following battery (2700 mAh 6V Ni-MH)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You should not use that charger for the first time. You need a use an overnight charger to charge this pack. THE correct current would be 0.140ams or 140ma. DO this for 12-16 hours.

A Team Orion rep. said the charger was o.k. I quote his e-mail; 1400 receiver pack charge at 1 amps in ni-mh setting every time. 2700 mah pack charge at 2 amps in ni-mh setting.

That is good for all subsequent charges, but for the first charge, this is not appropriate.
