Default How long do Nicad batteries last?

I'm sure this question has been answered before, but I can't find a string. I have some Nicad batteries (both receiver and transmitter) that are 6 to 8 years old. They show more than 80% capacity on my recycler, but I'm not sure if I can trust them. They have not seen much use, but they are old.

Default RE: How long do Nicad batteries last?

It's not worth gambling with the rx packs. After 3-5 years buy a new one. How long they last is also a function of how well they were taken care of. If they were always charged at 2-3C they won't last that long as compared to 1C or C/10. Also the chemicals lose their ability to hold a charge and just get old.
