Default MRC 969 questions??

I bought a super brain 969 and can't figure it out yet how it works.I went through the manual but it doesn't say much.
Do i have to change the time everytime i charge?
It has display of volts which can't be changed.A display of amp to charge, peak mV set,# of batteries, battery amperage and time to stop.
Time is set to 40 min and evrytime i have to push the button up to increase time more than 40min when i charge for example 12v 7ah lead batteries.
Is there a way to disable this??
What if i start charging without altering anything? Will it work OK?Will it understand what battery i have on it?

It can be a plug and start for nicad and nimh batts, but I do not think it is for pb batts.

My buddy's 969 Pro, and my 977 manuals both came with an example listed in the manual for how to charge a 12 volt 7ah battery.

Here is the manual in pdf, check out page 7 section c:

Ok, cool I didn't think so, It must use the similar profile as chargeing the li-pos?

Oh no , they are not telling you to do the math are they?

Well, they tell you how to calculate it, 0.2C max, but in parentheses it gives the example of a 7ah battery, which is what he has at 1.4 amps.

For li-pos on a 969 its kinda complicated, something about estimating 90 percent of the charge capacity, and letting it run one trickle cycle to get to full. My 977, you just enter the number of cells, and it does the rest. But if you plan on charging li-pos, just send your 969 in, and they will upgrade it to a 977 for free I think. At least they used to, because originally they said it easily charged li-pos and it was blowing them up. My buddy got his upgraded free, I think its just a software fix.

Ok, I am aware of the upgrade for li-pos. Possibly what is a dangerous thing to do (on a 969) with li-po is ok for a pb battery.

If it is a sub C then just plug it in and push start. Or read the manual. Or if you have a specifice aplication then someone here can recommend specs.

I can't say. I have never had my 977 default to a 40 minute charge, and my buddy never mentioned it with his 969 Pro. If you can try going as low as the settings will allow, and see if there is a zero time limit. If so, set it to that, as that will probably mean it will charge until peak detection. If not, set it as high as it will go for time, as the charger will quit early if it detects a peak before the time expires. Usually, with the 969 Pro my buddy has and my 977, you pretty much just plug it in, and set the max mah number and peak detection threshold, and let the charger figure out the rest. I have never charged a li-po pack though, so that ritual may be different, and the instructions detail those setps.

The MRC Super Brain chargers do not save profiles, so you have to change the settings each time you turn it on, or connect a different battery.

If you plug batt in and press start it will default to 3 amps, and 5 mv per cell and will charge until it is full.

Here's the simplest I can state the timer and mah settings. (they are both the same)
If the value is changed then the function is enabled and the charger will stop chargeing when the first enabled funtion is reached. The peak cannot be disabled.

Example would be to set timer for an hour, mah for 3000 and push start . The charger will stop when the first of the 3 termination functions is hit. If the voltage drops the required amount OR the timer expires OR the mah is reached it will stop.
