Brand new batteries
For a brand new battery, do I discharge before charging? I don't think so, but I'm afraid I'll make a mistake if I don't ask!

Assuming it's a NiCad battery pack, here's what I do using my Hangar 9 Surecycle. Let it discharge (usually not much will discharge before it kicks into charge mode.) I'll recycle 3 or 4 times before using. Haven't had any battery problems that I'm aware of. FWIW
