Can I use a 9.6v RC car battery on a Zagi 400x?

I just found a 9.6v radioshack car battery and was wondering if I could adapt it for my Zagi. I normally use a 1700mAh nimh. This is 9.6v and 1250mah. I know I'd have to wire up a dean connector, but that wouldn't be a problem.

Voltage and current have an inverse ratio. In other words as one goes up the other goes down assuming the resistance which in this case is wire and switches stays the same. So if you use a 9.6 volt battery your motor will draw more current resulting in less run time. DC motors can also be funny beasts. There is usually a sweet spot for torque / RPM delivered and motor/ pack life. They are downloads available to calculate these variables.
In a nut shell it should work but you'll get less run time and if the receiver pack has a higher internal resistance like some AA NiMh packs much poorer performance.
Something like this page should give you an idea of wht I'm trying to put into words.
