Default Computer power pack as a charging source

I remember reading a thread or article on using a computer power pack as a charging source, but I can't find it. I have a 200w one that is brand new but When I plug it in, it doesn't go on. How do you turn one of these on? Do you have to use a switch and if so, which wires are the one to hook up a switch to?

Try http://www.rcbatteryclinic.com. I built one using this link. Basically you have to load the 5 volt side with a 25 watt 2 ohm resistor before the 12 volt side will output any power or the fan will even run.Good luck!

Here's another site: http://reckerclub.tripod.com/id105.html Between the two of them you should understand exactly what to do. I used a truck turn signal assembly isolation mounted to the top of the one I built instead of the resistor on the 5V side and obtained 12.02V plus a pilot light to remind me when it's on. Works well!
