why does my battery heat up so fast
i have a piranha 1900 7 cell my frist one i had i got five runs out of it and it heated and the positive wire shorted out i sent it to duratrax cause it was 4 days old they gave me a new one and to day i broke it in and ran it for 5 min and i smelled the melted shrink wrap and it was super hot this was it frist run why did it do this

Sounds like you have a bad setup. Probably overgeared or something binding in your driveline. Try a smaller pinion gear.
It would help if you gave some setup data and what vehicle are you talking about.

ok my truck is a rustler with a 10 turn cobalt thur a traxxas lx 10 esc the gears are 84 and 18 i had a 22 in it had it still heated up on the frist battery the drrive train fells smoth no binds

but this is the only battery that it does it on i have some 6 cell epic 3300s and they just get a lil warm

YOU ARE WAY OVER GEARED. to properly gear a 10 turn in a rusty you would need a 8 tooth pinion. A 48 pitch 8 tooth pinion does not exist so you can not properly gear a 10 turn in a rustler. Try a 15 turn motor instead and use a 13 tooth pinion. The way to properly gear a rusty is go two teeth under the turns of the motor. With gearing that high the motor is probably junk buy now[&o].

theres no way its overed then how do they put a mamba in a rusty the motor never got super hot i put it in a t3 truck same gearing theres no way this is ture

The lower quality battery is showing problem with the high current draw. The 3300's can get away with it. A better battery is an answer. If it is geared too high then that is another problem.

today i ran a 1500 with 12 gauge wires it seem to run fine i put a 18 and a 87 tooth it seem to be a little cooler than most of the time
