Default Charging a 3600 nimh pack @ 300ma?

Is it bad to charge this pack at this low of a charge repeatedly? I don't need my batteries charged in 1-2 hours, and I have a few wal-wart chargers. Could I therotically charge this pack for 12 hours with this plug in charger over and over again? I remember reading somewhere that it's not a good idea to trickle charge this type of pack. It is a venom 6 cell.

It would probably be the best thing for it especially if you're running it down every time. Even if you don't use it all the way down, 300 ma isn't going to hurt it if it overcharges for a number of hrs. It may actually be good for it to overcharge (24 hrs total) to balance the cells every great once in a while.

Peak charger's are a lot easier though.

3600 mil pack would require a 360mil charge for a slow[overnite] charge so 300 would not be that signifigant an amount less than a normal slow charge so I would not hesitate to use it and being less than recomended charge rate it would never hurt it to leave it on longer a time or two.

How come the pack says "do not trickle charge" ? What is considered a trickle charge for a 3600 mah battery?

Hordsak:

Trickle charge can mean different things to different people, but one thing that is accepted by many ( including manufacturers) is charging at one tenth C where C is the capacity of the battery.
In this case, C is 3600mah, and the .1C charge rate is 360ma for 14 ~ 16 hours when the battery is completely discharged. It is also proven that continuous charging at the .1C rate for 24 hours does not damage the battery.

I would think the "do not trickle charge" would mean to not leave it on a low charge for an extended period of time. ie.. day or weeks.

So am I OK at charging this battery a little bit under .1 C? Because I'm charging it at 300ma, instead of 360ma. Thanks alot for the info guys.

Yes, in fact your battery will probably last longer by charging in this manner than if you do a lot of fast charges.
