Looks great man. Love it how you pimp out the A123 logo.

Thanks. I have the A123 Racing Logo in original format in a pdf file. I use Adobe Photo Shop to size according to need and print out on water slide decal material, clear coat, apply and clear coat again. Rusttolum Clear Glossy Enamel works well and is carried by Home Depot.

The Logo looks a lot better in real life than posted here. RC U has such limitations on file size that youcan not upload a high qulaity image of any size / detail.

My first GP Electro Stik with RimFire motor has 112 flights on it and #2 with Scorpion motor (one in this Thread) has 215 flights on it. All but a few of these flight fueled with A123s.

During the past year I have flown well over 2,000 flights fuelded by A123 2300 cells.

Hi Charles,

Would the GP ElectroStik ARF/Rimfire 42-40-1000 combo fly ok using 3 or 4 VPX1100 cells? I was thinking about buying this combo as my first electric bird and would like to use the A123 cells and my Multi4 charger.

Are you flying yours with 3? 2300's?

Thanks you for all the great info you give to this forum...Brian

That Rimfire motor you mention, the 42-40-1000, Will not take 4 cells. I blew three of them trying. Tower replaced each motor and then gave me a refund. My Electrostik is now powered with an AXI 2826 on 4 A123 cells. It sings on these cells. The rest of my setup is, three HS-81MG servos, Castle Phoenix 60 ESC, Spektrum 6200 RX, and a separate Castle BEC. The AXI is mounted in an Electrifly medium motor mount that has to be modified to mount the AXI. I'm waiting for some decent weather to fly it. I lost a lot of time with the motors.

Yes, I am. I got them from CheapBatteryPacks.com already assembled. They are 2and 2 in pack form. They came with a balance tap and I charge them through that with an FMA Cellpro 10 charger. They stay nice and cool. I put a Wattmeter to this setup and got over 475 watts at 43 amps. I was at my club's annual dinner tonight and won another AXi 2826/10. I'll be looking long and hard for a plane to use it in.

Hi Charles,

The 1100 mAh A123 (B&D VPX) cells are not enought. I use the 2300 cells. I have no idea how the other poster smoked 3 of these motor but my original ARF one with supplied Rimfire has over 100 flights using 4 and 5S 2300 A123s and the only problem I had was with the servos. They are slow and the gears strip easier than Hitec 55s.

My second one with the Scorpion and dual aileron servos now has 285 flight and has been flown on 4Sand 5S A123 (2300) as well as with 3S2P 4500 LiPolys.3S1P 3300 LiPolys and 4S3300 LiPolys. It develops over 1,000 watts on a 4S LiPoly. The ARF one sets in the hanger(shop) in case I need a spare. Truth is the Scorpion powered one is just a lot more fun to fly with the insane amount of power it has.

Thanks Charles & MrMulligan, I'll get some A123 2300 packs to add to my growing inventory.

Thanks to Charles many posts, and Dan's A123 terminator schematics I'm about to build my first A123 pack as soon as the cells get here. Plan to use it in the new Electrostik that should be in next week. If that goes well I'll probably eventually replace my existing lipo and NIMH packs with A123's. I really like the safety features of these cells and the number of cycles possible with them. Thanks again guys for sharing your knowledge with the rest of us.
