I've read the forums and done some searches but I'm still a bit confused as to what I need by way of a charger(s). I want to fly electric planes (starting with a GWS Slow Stick) and work up to larger electric planes and possibly helicopters someday. I'll be using the Hitec Eclipse 7.

Questions:

1) I assume I will need a charger for slow overnight charging as well as quick at the field charging. Are there chargers that will do both of these?

2) Do most electric flyers have two chargers to accomplish this?

3) I was looking at the Triton charger...any opinions on this model or can you recommend others.

Many electric flyers have more than one charger...its sometimes hard or expensive to find one that suits all your needs. I have a Triton and am very satisfied with it. Its only downfall in my opinion is that it will not trickle charge at say 50 mah, the lowest setting is 100 mah. It is a good idea to break in a new battery at C/10 rate for 14-16 hours and the 100 mah minimum setting on the Triton will do 1000 mah rated batteries and larger at C/10. Hope this helped you a bit.

One thing for sure there are several solid models to choose from, and lots of knowledge in this forum to answer your questions.

I fly mostly glo power, but have tried everything from wall warts to the Alpha 4 (which I sold quickly on Ebay last summer). The best success came with the following chargers:

Sirius Pro
Schulze isl 6-330 d
Dymond Super Turbo

The first two listed are gems for simplicity and versatility. The Sirius Pro works great in the field, and they also make a discharger for cycling batteries.

Check these out. A Google search will find vendors and more specific product information. The Sirius Pro and Dymond are frequently discussed here. Good Luck!
