ISL 330d problem
Anyone having trouble with the 330d, V8.06? I'm have trouble getting the auto programs to work with my ECU (8cell) packs. In autoD, auto DC or auto DC3 with a full charge, it will identify the pack a 9 cell instead of 8. Using autoC, autoCD or autoCD3 with a depleted charge, it will identify the pack as a 7 cell! Both ECU packs are new and I've tried it with both my 330's. Any Schulze pros out there?
Thanks, Shaun |
RE: ISL 330d problem
Did you use the output one or two? Try again with output one! The output 2 has 6 cells max.

RE: ISL 330d problem
I should have mentioned that, it was using port 1. For now I'm manually setting the cell count for all the auto programs. It's not that big a deal, just a little disappointed that is doesn't work automatically.

RE: ISL 330d problem
I remember reading somewhere that the charger will sometimes find the wrong number of cell but that it will correct itself after a short period. I just can't find it so maybe an email to Schulze is in order.
Make sure you have 13ga wire minimum for your leads also makes a big difference in sensing voltage and such. |
RE: ISL 330d problem
They want 13G wire at only 20cm. For a good yard, you'll need some 10G.... Think I might have something running into my 400amp service, then I can run some really long leads LOL!

RE: ISL 330d problem
I bought some 13 ga wire made by General Silicones USA. Its pretty nice stuff, very flexible since it has 1300 strands or so and is still light considering it's size and that I keep my batt leads very short (lucky on balances so far).

RE: ISL 330d problem
I think it gets cell counts from Voltage readings only.
I had some old 4 cell packs and on 2 it kept reading 3 cells. I finally slow charged the packs using a wall wart overnite and then put them back on the Isl to auto discharge charge and it now reads correctly. Plus the packs came back up. I was using output 1 with short leads etc V8.06 |
RE: ISL 330d problem
What good is 13 GA wire if you have to ram it through the connector on the battery at 20 GA? Isn't the wire capacity only as good as it's smallest gauge?

RE: ISL 330d problem
They recommend that you use the 13Ga wire on the battery leads also, and have good connectors. I wouldn't worry too much about it, if you keep your runs short it works fine. Good connectors are a must as far as I am concerned.

RE: ISL 330d problem
I agree completely. I once tried to run a coax cable signal through magnet wire. It worked.........only kinda.
