Looking for help or pointers
 

New to the hobby and recently bought a Traxxas Stampede (electric) I have a Intellipeak Charger 4100 and for now I have one set of Radio Shack GP 3300's.

Since my brain is on complete overload trying to read all of the info available.. and there is a ton.. I would like to thank everyone ahead of time and here are my questions -

1. Where is the best place to learn about charging batteries
2. For a second battery should I buy a 7 cell for it? If so what are some decent ones to look at
3. With no money limit what 6 cell battery can I get that has great run time and won't damage my new toy.

I will probably have some more questions after I see some responses and thanks again

richrd got some excellent links there and the gp and IB are the top NIMH batts. You can get away with generic type or cheap batts on the stampede as long as it is stock and may save you some bucks right off the batt.

Duratrax also makes some if you move the rx in the chassis a 7 cell flat pack can be fitted and definetely will make the truck faster than 6 cells.

Hi people,

I am new to the sport of on road RC, bought a nifty looking TP-C2003 computerised charger but it has a current adjustment. I have no idea at what current to set for what batteries.

How often should I cycle my new battery before I actually use it on my car?

Min three slow C/10 Just charge overnite 14 to 16hrs at C/10 then run car until see any sign of slowing do not run dead then recharge over nite after three times good to go to 1C but I myself only charge at 80% of 1C with 4 to 6 mV delta peak lowest I can get away with. After 20 or soo fast charges reform at C/10 for 14 hrs,,, remember formation starts with a empty battery for 14 hrs.
