Can I use the same battery for both the RX and the ignition? I was thinking of using a single 3200mAh LiFe for both. That is basically to save weight

Ameyam
you can... pst Jedijody, he's has done it on many planes... not sure of exactly what he uses, but i know on my next gasser i will use one of these http://www.tech-aero.net/ultra-ibec
while this forum section is appropriate, you could also post it in the gas engine section and you will get some more replies

The weight is getting to be my concern-

1 extra servo for choke
Additional fibreglass reinforcement for the firewall
Additional ignition battery
Larger wheels (the stock 2.25" are just too small)

Now, if I use two of these:

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXAAGM&P=6

instead of one of this:

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXYAT1&P=6

as I was originally thinking, I can save weight because 2 x 73g= 140g < 1 x 210g

I am also getting

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXB910&P=7

to replace the stock wheels. The DB wheels are cheaper than the Dubro ones of the same size.

While I dont want to turn this into a Phoenix Extra 330s build thread, just thinking aloud here

Was still wondering whether I should go with the DLE20 on this airplane or get a 95ax instead to keep things light.

To keep things light, I'd do the 95AX.

But gas ( at least around here ) is still cheaper than glow fuel.... but that may change! []

You also do not need a choke servo unless there is just no other good way to do it. If there is access throught the cowl opening to reach a choke rod, that is the simplest, lightest solution. The firewall may not necessarilly need glassing eaither. The DLE-20 is nothing like a 50cc or larger engine either. Then again, if the firewall is questionable to begin with, it might not be a bad idea.

The DLE-20 will be a slightly more complicated install than the glow engine for sure and it will be easier on some airplanes than others.

I am getting both the Dle20 & the 95. Problem with the 20 is the weight addition. Even if I use a choke rod, 2 batteries are still needed. The manual also recommends Dubro antivibe beam mount which also is heavy. Though the build in the firewall is not that questionable, I will want to glaze it anyway and there is also some glazing that needs to be done in the tail. I have already added tristock everywhere. All of this is adding weignt- too much in my consideration.

So I will go for the 95 in the Extra (its actually lighter than the 75ax) and will put a DLE in a Funtana 125 later. That raises the question, being I wont assemble the Funtana till next season, should I get the 20 now or wait for something in the offing

you dont need a choke servo, and you dont need to fiberglass the firewall... just clearcoat it like you would do to any glow plane..... consider it as easy as running a 120ax but a gas version and rear carb

My thinking:

Will get both. First will tryout the DLE with a temporary test fitting. If it feels too heavy, I will put in the 95

I can use the 95 on some other airplane then
