spektrum dx8 bulletinMAYDAY
I was at the field today and was taxing for a flight with my chipmunk and all of a sudden my servos locked up! come to find out my dx8 has a recall. Make sure you all check for updates for your transmitters. They are locking up most 6 channel receivers. Luckily they will fix them for free, but another minute my chippy would have been in the air with no help!
I hope this post saves a plane!

Just so everyone knows it's not just the 8 channel...but a lot of the 6's some 9303 and 9503's....best to look at the web site if you're flying JR or Spektrum

I know that JR/Spectrum has a good following and most people haven't had any trouble, but that technology has had more than its share of problems. I'm glad I chose Airtronics. Other than a gimbal wire issue on a few units, these low cost radios have been rock solid.

Airtronics was my first radio. I had an RD6000 72 MHz, ch 42 when I started out. I used the thing on everything I had at the time. I have always had a soft spot for them (Airtronics).
Spektrum came out with the DX7 before anyone else did and I was very interested in the technology, so I bought one. I had one of the first ones but never experienced the problems they were supposed to have had. But, I never let the batteries run low, and later I switched over to 6 volt packs so I never had any problems with it. I also own a Spektrum DX6i which is also a real nice six channel radio.

I recently bought a dx8 and am injoying it also. I did not want to cut any brand down because they all have there issues.

RE: spektrum dx8 bulletinMAYDAY
G'day
I have a DX7, a Hitec Optic 6, a JR 2610 converted to 2.4 gig with a Fly-Dream module and most recently a Hitec Aurora 9. I have had no problems with any of them.
Last weekend a guy flying a large (and expensive) gasser saw his $5000 investment reduced to rubble. It had a Futaba radio with a Spektrum module in it. But from what I saw, I suspect his battery/power system was at fault. He always fast charges his batteries at the field and had been playing around with the model for at least an hour before he flew it. First flight was fine. Second flight went about five minutes and ended abruptly.
Nobody really knows what happened though.

It probably has a Futaba charge polarity. JR/Spektrum is opposite hitec and futaba
