I built an original Asro Hog in the '60s using reed equipment it flew great and was easy to fly. Flew the new version of the Hog and it was even better. The 4*seems to be simular to the Bingo, that I think is better than the Hog, but does not fly as well.
I would go with the Hog.
I would go with the Hog.

Dan,
Your first question was which was easier to build.....
Well now. the 4#60 is all Laser Cut and almost"Falls" together.
The Astro Hog requires a chain saw to shape all the balsa blocks used this kit !! There is seven (7) pieces alone to be laminated to form the wing tip !
As for the flying.... The old saying goes : " Nothing Flys like a Hog"
This is TRUE !
However, the 4* is a fine flyer also. It is a "Floater" though. Some of us removed the last two bays from the wing tips to reduce this tendency with good results.
Having built both of these planes....Check my "HOG" on my Avistar !
If you are a "Builder", go with the Hog. You won't regret it. If you're in a hurry, the 4* . Both fine planes.
Good Luck with your choice !
