Assistance please.
Hello all.
I am looking to get into electric r/c airplanes a little more. I have had a few cheap big box planes and found them very easy to fly. After beating my firebird commander to death (literally with 100+ flights) i would like to get into flying foamies. I love the foamie concept as i would like to purchase a single kit (i.e. motor/esc/battery/servos etc.) and be able to build different planes with my son that we could fly together. Could you also recommend a radio/receiver/servo package as well?
Would it be better to locate the best parts from various shops/individuals or purchase a pre built plane and gut it when it is no longer servicable? I currently have a blade cx3 with a LP5DSM 5 channel radio. Could this radio be used to cut the cost? I am trying to do more hands on and creative things with my son to keep him off of the Xbox360. I will have to limit the budget to this project to no more than $150. Hopefully this is possible.
Any assistance would be apreciated.
Thanks ahead.

This is a natural next step airplane for you Its ready to go after you install your Receiver. They are a wonderful flyer and capable of all the pattern type manuvers and shoot they are warbirds to boot! I,ve even had a few participating at night flys I have conducted.
I do not own one as I am primarily Glow or Gas but have flown a number of them helping the fellows and we have even conducted pylon races for just this airplane.

There are many good planes out there. For your budget, that is doable, but limits a little bit.
These are really good flying planes.

If you are looking for a budget radio. The 9x is the best low cost radio out there. I have used mine for 2 years now. No problems at all.

Stinknugget,
If you want to build your planes from scratch try ********. Their website is a wealth of info for building foam planes. You can get eveything from them or they also give you the equevilent equipment from other sources. They mostly are into foam jets, so not sure if thats the way you want to go. They have a couple free plans that you can download to your printer and then just tape the sheets together for your full size plans.
My grandson and I built one and it was a fun project. I think the whole thing ended up costing about $30 to $40 bucks.
