GP Extra 300S .40 Servo & Battery Recommendations
It's been many years since I have put a kit together. I'm just to the point of installing servos in this kit and need some advice as to what type of servo and battery combo would be sufficient and reliable. Only using 4 channels.
I have done a 3/4 inch extension to the elevator as well as the rudder for better performance.
Kit says .40 but will be running an O.S. 61FX.
58" wingspan
Thank you for any advice!

With your extended control surfaces and your larger-than-recommended engine selection, you might want to go with higher-torque servos for the control surfaces. Hitec HS-485 or Futaba S3010 are two affordable options that come to mind. A standard HS-311 or S3003 servo will work fine for the throttle.
As for receiver batteries, I usually buy 6V 1600Mah NiMH packs. You can find good brand-name packs for $15 to $20, and you can fly all weekend on a single charge. If the battery loses a cell, you have enough voltage to spare. Also, the extra voltage will help improve the torque of the servos.
Good luck and good shopping!
