Default Starting out in rc planes with nothing more than an engine. I'm gonna need help.

So I just got a OS 35 fp engine for an RC plane as a gift by a friend. I know little about flight and next to nothing about RC controls, but I aim to make an RC airplane to suit my engine. What kind of tips or tutorials could I follow, or where should I search for blueprints of planes that would fit my engine?

Just to clarify, i've got the engine, the fuel tank, glowplug, everything to make it run except fuel and a battery to start the glowplug.

It probably needs a thorough cleaning, though, it still resists movement quite a bit when I remove the glow plug.

Two things:
1) If you want to learn to fly, I'd look at the Kadet MkII as it's designed for that size engine. The kit comes with almost everything you're going to need to build the plane, other than radio gear. The instructions are written for a beginner so, if you can follow directions and ask questions, you should have a flyable plane when you're done.
2) With your admitted lack of knowledge, I'd find a flying club in your area and have someone go over the engine with you, If there is something going on, they would be more able to figure out what than you could going by what we tell you without being able to see the engine or feel what's happening.

I too would say the Sig Kadet MkII would be a good plane. Fill that engine with glow fuel, it should free it up.

A heat gun will free up the engine; then oil it.

I agree about the airplane choice; I've flown one and trained people on it with an OS 40 FP and it's a fine trainer. I'd suggest an 11x4 prop instead of the usual 10x6.

I like it, everyone likes my recommended AC. Others agreeing with me only happens once every 40 years or so

hey, i did some investigating and yes, your suggestion seems perfectly fit for my engine and budget and all, but the thing is: SIG won't deliver to my country. i live in canada (quebec city) and it seems sig doesn't have an option to deliver here.

have you got another type of strong, easy to fly and cheap beginner airplane for me?

thanks for the sugestion, anyway

If you want to pick up an inexpensive trainer set up, you can usually find something on craigs list for 1/2 the price of new.

Hi, and welcome to the hobby I think "GreatHobbies" (a Canadian Store) carries all of the SIG aircraft, and at very competitive prices, cheaper than tower once you factor in shipping and duty and such.

Good tip. I don't know what's available in Canada; I was sorry to see Unionville kits disappear.

Yes, I think my father may have had an Otter or Beaver kit of theirs. Too bad it ended up getting thrown out, I would love to build one now!
