Great planes j3 piper cub.60 kit
Hi guys, i just finished my cub i installed an os la.65 in it but i would like to swap it for a dle 20cc rear exhaust. What do you think? Any advice or comments, thanks

I would enjoy the plane as you have it. If you want a gasser, build a Balsa USA or similar 1/4 scale Cub over the winter. If you go to another engine you will probably have to buy another cowling
Of course, I like the smell of nitro in the morning. I would have put a .70 4 stroke on it
The plane with the LA will fly great, will be light and fun to fly

Well guys, I was told to use a 26cc gas engine. They said that a 65 os la wasn't enough power. I have the os la 65, os 91 fx and a Dle 20cc ra. Should I go with the 91 instead? Any help is appreciated

Have you flown the model, with the 65, two stroke, or are you just quoting whatever "they" said ?

That plane was intended for a ball bearing type .60, so the LA will be on the low end power wise. It shouldn't be a problem, just don't expect it to handle a lot of wind or have significant vertical performance. The .91 will be more like a Super Cub engine, short takeoffs and torque to spare for scale like aerobatics. There does come a point though with adding power that with the extra weight and extra speed, you start really stressing the airframe. I wouldn't worry about folding a wing, but control flutter could become an issue as could high speed stalls. Trying to make a Cub go fast is just an exercise in frustration. Let it be the lightweight floater it was meant to be and enjoy it.

Sounds like a good choice. I haven't run that engine, but it saw a very good review. I would experiment with props of fairly large diameter and low pitch on that plane, perhaps around 13x4 to 13x5. It makes landings easier and probably will pull a large plane better than a 12 inch. I hope you'll let us know how it goes once you've flown it.
