Hi, I have a couple of engines I received with my plane. There is a os 60 complete with muffler - looks clean and in good condition. I dont know much right now about how they operate and maintenance. I try to spin the piece where the prop goes but it wont turn at all - atleast not with my fingers. What is the best method to use to take it apart and see if it is stuck and what to do to unstick it and get it ready to run.

From: gone,
Start out... drip some fresh glow fuel down the carb and inthrought the glow plug hole. Put the engine n a coffee can and seal it overnight. 75% of the time... it will turn OK in the morning. The fresh fuel dissolves the gum that set up in storage.
Then remove the backplate... and flush the inside of the engine with fuel as you rotate the crankshaft. If the fuel turns reddish-brown... you have rusted ball bearings. (not good) You have to continue flushing with fuel till you can pur some in... turn the engine ove a couple of times and the fuel comnes out essentially clean. (I save the last 2 to 4 oz of each gallon for engine cleaning.)

A little heat in a oven about 250 or anti freeze in crock pot does the job over nite. make sure you oil after you get throughly dry or start and put in after run oil ATF,or Marlvel.

Is it stuck from being gummed up or is it just tight? Some ABC engines are very difficult to turn over using just the prop shaft. I have a Webra .32 that is hard to turn over with a prop on it because it's so tight.

try turning it with a prop on it first because it may not be locked at all, if it is locked up slow cook it overnight in a crock pot with antifreeze then lots of WD40 on the bearings and everything

Thanks all for your replys - I took a extra prop out of the box and put it on. One good twist and the 60 turned. It will need alittle cleaning but I am going to try all crank all 3 engines tomorrow when I go down and buy some glow fuel. They all probaly need some new plugs.
