Default Places to fly gas planes on Vancouver Island BC Canada

Hello

I am a rookie pilot who wants to move up from my small electric and my Spirit sailplane to gas, but...

Where is a good place to fly on Vancouver Island??? I am in Victoria and would drive awhile if I have to. Any ideas?

I will be flying a 66 inch Extra and want to practice pattern flying.

PS if you are from Victoria (lower Vancouver Island) and interested in teaching a new and eager pilot pattern flying, I am your student!

Hey Mr. C.
Unfortunately they do not take new members and kicked out most of the club in fact (in order to keep their facility). A lot of the people who left fly electric stuff at another feild (which they use unofficialy) but frown upon (again unofficially) gas as they dont want to ruin the good thing they have going.

What is the scene in Courtney like?

Hey!

How did the search for a place to fly turn out? I hate it when big forums have dead end threads like this. Can anybody suggest a good field anywhere near Victoria?

Hello; I fly at Morgan's, near the Crofton turn-off. Sundays, after noon, and tues. and thurs. after supper. I know that most old flyers who fly there won't mind my inviting potential problems. For the sport/hobby to thrive, we have to accomodate all sorts, but if you do come out, don't try to change the way things are done there, and respect the field rules.

Gasoline or glow (Methanol and Nitro Methane)? You said gas.. there IS a difference and many clubs won't allow " gasoline" powered model aircraft due to noise restrictions.
