Default Do you know of such a place?

Has anyone put together some statistics that locate the best State, county, location for year-round flying? A place where the winds are gentle and the rain only falls at night? Scenic backdrop (mountains maybe?). Does this place have a club where advice is only given when asked for and dues are cheap? Does there exist an on-site hobby shop? Does the club property adjoin an all-female nudist colony? (which, by the way, has a large number of RC groupies) If you know of such a site........please, drop me a line!

If such a place exists I can assure you they won't post it here, otherwise they might be overrun. And besides, such neighbors would be hazardous to the planes. Ya got to keep your eyes on the plane, right???

It is Houston. 20 clubs. If you consider light winds anything under 30 mph. The scenic backdrop is the largest sky in the country. But it is brown. Oh, most people don't believe in hard runways here. So we generally have to wait a week for the runway to dry out after a gully washer. That only happens about once a week in the spring and the fall and the winter. We don't have nude groupies, but we do have about 100 strip clubs in town. But it is difficult to afford both hobbies at the same time. There are several hobby shops. You can drive an hour in any direction of your house to find they don't have what you need. I just order on line from Tower over night and save the gas money.
The good news is there is no wind in the summer. But I would actually pay for a breeze then. If you don't mind the very high U V ratings and ozone levels that would kill a parakeet or the 100 degree temperatures with 80 % humidity and if you don't care about the mosquitoes which carry encephalitis and bird flu, the flying is GREAT. I LOVE IT HERE.

The main reason the USMC put an airbase in Yuma, AZ is because of its 99% flytime due to good weather. Rain? I lived there for 3 years, rained twice. There is the Colorado river that runs through Yuma. Has mountians surounding it.

oh yeah, almost forgot.....

ITS FREAKIN HOT THERE ! mid 60-70's during the winter, hottest I personally have seen was 128 in August.

You might want to check with the guys in the "Aerial Photography and Video" forum, I bet THEY can help with this one.

Chuck, I have been to both places and while they are both really great small towns you are 100% correct! I think that field Raymond flies off would be close the only problem is the nudist tip the scales over 350[X(] and it isn't a beach.
