RE: Sig Kadet LT-40 ARF wing question
Test flight today. I added 1 set of 3/32" washers at the rear of the wing mount (1 for each wing bolt). Straight-n-level flight with neutral elevator trim was raised to just above mid-throttle. Full throttle kicked it into a 40 degree climb. A second set of 3/32" washers were added. Straight-n-level flight with neutral elevator trim was raised to 15/16 of throttle. Full throttle resulted in a slight climb. At half throttle it was still pretty much straight-n-level.
So - 3/16" shim at the back will result in a pretty neutral full throttle straight-n-level flight. As a trainer, maybe 1/8" or a bit more would be decent 'cause we tell the trainees that the throttle is for increasing altitude.
Only drawback - I bought the OS 46 FX at an auction this spring. The engine was new but the muffler was not. The previous owner "fixed" the back half so that the exhaust tip is pointing up - the bottom side of the wing. There is this 3/16" gap between the wing's bottom and the fuse's wing saddle. Exhaust spooge is getting inside.
Any hints how to "unfreeze" the halves of an OS muffler? Yea - the center bolt can be removed ...

RE: Sig Kadet LT-40 ARF wing question
Hello, just a word of caution regarding the wing 'thingy'. I had my LT40 for about 4 years, loved it and flew the pants off it.
I was just finished saying to a buddy that I will be flying this untill it falls apart in the air, when..the very next flight the
wing 'thingy' broke and I watched the wing part company with the fuse.
The wing came fluttering down while the fuse did a graceful arc into the dirt.
So, I would suggest that after a while make it a habbit of inspecting that piece, or even reinforce it.

RE: Sig Kadet LT-40 ARF wing question
Hmmm, I am geting ready to install an OS 60 in one we just bought. Maybe I should beef up the forward wing support. I am also considering putting wing struts on it. We will be using it as a replacement for our 40 size Alpha trainer that is about worn out. We will be hauling gliders and doing a lot more with it. It needs to be tough.

And how did you then seal the fuse & wing bottom? I never done anything but a ''finishing resin micro balloon'' putty.
