I just ordered a ARF Avistar, 6 channel radio and a ton of other stuff to get started in this hobby. Im really looking forward to geting this ARF put together and get some hours of instruction under my belt. After that I want to get my 'hands dirty' per say and build my first kit. I really know next ot nothing about building RC planes. Can some one post up some good links to 'how to' resources, guides. I want to get some quality builds under my belt so I can eventual build a nice warbird like a top flite sea fury...but thats a long way off.
thanks, Justin

right on justin welcome to the hobby when I started there werent really any ARFs so building was the only way to fly. you started in the right place RCU is one of the best resorces for info on everything RC checkout the kit building section here, also warbirds has alot of building threads on it, lots of ideas for constructing your next kit build you should think about where you want to head in the sport and build a second plane in that style a high wing plane with a strait wing perhaps a tail dragger if you want to fly warbirds eventually.

Firehawker,
First off, welcome to the addiction..... Uh, I mean hobby!!!!!
If you are looking for a resource on building a trainer check out my Sig LT-40 How To build thread. You can find it at:
[link]http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3439708/tm.htm[/link]
You might also check out the [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/index.cfm]RCU Magazine[/link] as it has lots of "how to" articles in it that can help you out.
Lastly, don't be afraid to ask right here in this forum. That's what it's here for, to help people get started in this great hobby. There are lots of experienced hobbyists that gladly give up their time to help out people that are just getting started. So don't be afraid to ask!!!

In addition to the links Ken gave, CafeenMan's web site has lots of good information on building, tool selection, etc: http://www.airfieldmodels.com

If you are interested in a kit that will actually teach you things about building, get a SIG Kadet/Signorita. It is a labor intensive kit with a stick built fuselage, BUT, you will learn things from that kit that you would not learn from many other kits.
BTW - While the Kadet/Signorita is a trainer type plane it is a nice relaxing plane to fly.
