I had my first solo on September 19 and so far, my Nexstar has over 30 flights and is still going strong. This is a very good flying plane, and I hope to set it up for some video photography eventually. I still have yet to get signed off on the certificate, because I made a cross-wind takeoff and they want me to go up into the wind. Of course, that can easily be fixed and I'm in no hurry. The AMA is also offering a discount on their full membership, and I plan on taking advantage of that (the amount I paid for partial membership being taken off of full membership). Heck of a deal!

NS,
Congratulations on the solo. You've got a good trainer there. I just got my boys plane back in the air yesterday to experiment with flapperons. Makes the slow landings even slower and it climbs with just a few notches of power.

I use that nick because I like the Norfolk Southern railroad colors and the style of their locomotives. Also, I have a third generation P-5 locomotive horn that I purchased from a collector a couple years ago. I really like the sound of those third-generation Nathans on an older General Motors engine! Take care.

And no back to the main subject. Thanks RCKen and Hogflyer for the recognition. It is greatly appreciated. I will add that the Nexstar makes very majestic takeoffs and landings, with an excellent glide ratio. When it's at a high altitude, it literally flies like a blimp! Man, I should get me a blimp. Anyway, mine can do some very light aerobatics as well as the stable flight. I have a couple photos of it, but I'll need to downsize them a bit before I can do the upload.

I really like the work you did on those wings. Did you recover the fuse too? Since the gears are epoxied in my machine, I don't think I'll be able to convert it without doing some major cutting and glueing. I'm going to fly it the way it is for now, at least until I get enough funding to do some experiments. What I like most about this plane is that parts are easy to get and replace. It really is serviceable!
