Default Spinner Prop Nut ????

Do you have to have some kind of an adaptor if you use an spinner prop nut? I bought a new prop nut today for my electric starter so I wouldnt have to use plastic spinners anymore but it seems it will just spin off once I use the electric starter. Can anyone give me some advice?

Flip the rubber insert on your starter 180 degrees, it should have a small hole for prop nuts. you may have to glue it back in. Sullivan makes an insert with the small "Prop Nut" hole as well.
I like using prop nuts much better than spinners but some planes just look better with a spinner.

Tighten the crap out of it, Maybe use locktite, Maybe a backup nut. Is it bottoming out? or does your nut go over the shaft and the shaft stick out? Need to see it can u Post a pic. Take a pic and put it in MY Pitchures and then use the dealy on the bottom of repy that says click here to post images. It will take you to a dealy that says browse click on it and got to your picture and press open. That is the only way i can do it anyway and i am for sure PC dumb.

Use a jam nut. It won't go any where.

Hello Everyone:

I use these, they work perfectly with a standard starter cone and don't require anything like Locktite.

I hope that helps.

One of my engines has enough 'unthreaded' shaft sticking out that it actually comes all the way through the prop and washer. The nut bottoms out before it gets tight on the prop and the starter will spin it off. I bought an extra prop washer and use it in addition to the one that came with the engine.

This one is for 1/4" shafts and costs $1.50 including a spare nut.

This one is for 5/16" shafts and costs $1.79 including a spare nut.
