Drunken Leading Edge JOB
I got home one night after a long night out at the bar. And, well, my favorite thing to do while i'm sobering up (or throwing a few back) is to do some repair work, if needed, on my planes. Some of you are aware that I put my Tower Trainer wing into a pole. [&o] Anyway, I added ribs and other balsa quite well, but I really did quite a horricfic job with the leading edge. By that I mean, I salvaged balsa from old planes and somewhat formed a leading edge. There is balsa there , at least, but it does not match the rest of the edge. I then covered it. Is this going to seriously effect flight? It's about 6-7 inches of the wing. Thanks in advance.
Best,
Yetti

You work on planes intoxicated? I personally just call my ex at 3:00 AM. Of course that's when I was still indulging in those things. I miraculously managed to never got into any sort of serious trouble and I figured I was really pushing the odds after a while so I stopped while I was ahead.
Do you have pictures of the leading edge? That might help decide if it will be problem or not.

You may be able to smooth it out using some wood filler or balsa filler. Just add it in small layers waiting for it to dry, sand between applications until you get the profile built up.

Hey if you fly it in the same condition that you were in when you fixed it. You won't know the difference anyways.
