Default Correct Glow Plug?

What is the correct glow plug for the Tower Hobbies .46ABC engine?

[link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJA86&P=0]TH Engine[/link]

Their link is to a OS#8 which I ordered but it is much shorter than the one installed in the engine originally.
[link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCB27&P=V]their suggestion[/link]

I looked for some "long" OS ones but they were suggested for use in trucks...

Which is the right one? (with link)

Thanks.

I'm running a super tigre 40, and planning to use a O.S. A3 plug. Never ran an O.S. plug either, but if it is recommended, try it.

I've flown an old 1990 ventage Magnum Pro 46 ABC...same as the Thunder Tiger Pro. I started out using the A3...I switched to the OS#8 and it runs much better with more power on the same fuel and it's still very strong. With all my engines I use an OS#8 on all 2 Strokes and OS-F on all 4 strokes...Never had plug problems and they last longer than anything else I tried over the past 25 years. I'm certain others have success stories with other plugs. No reason for me to change what has worked for me.

Magnum 46ABC - OS#8
OS 91FX - OS#8
YS 61LS - OS#8
YS61AR - OS#8
OS FS-91 II Surpass w/Pump - OS-F
YS 140L - OS-F
YS140DZ - OS-F

The O.S. #8 - IS - a "long" plug, albeit it is shorter than others.

It is fine for the T.H. engines.

You can also use other manufacturer's long, medium range plugs too.

e.g the Fox "Miracle" plug.

Not to scare you but I had that same engine and no matter what plug I used I had problems.

Hopefully you will be able to get her purring. If not do what i did and send it back to tower get your credit and buy a Magnum .46XLS. GREAT ENGINE.

These are GREAT engines.

They key to getting them running right is NOT to touch the needle settings, as the engine comes out of the box, and to use a heavier APC prop.

Instead, run about 1/4 gallon through them, using the recommended prop, then slowly start adjusting the needles a click or two at a time.

It takes about a gallon of fuel before the engine is finally broken in, so it is important not to jump ahead.

The plug used makes a difference, as does the prop, and starting out with 15% fuel also helps.

Once broken in you can move back to 10% fuel with a bit of retuning.

The heavier prop is initially important to get the idle right.

Most people who've had problems with the engines at our field, were using the wrong prop, and once changed I've been able to help them tune up their engines almost immediately.

I have no problems with the engine. It runs fine. Ran 1/2 gallon of 10% on 10x8 and have switched to 11x6 now.

My issue was I pulled the OEM plug and it is about "3 thread turns" or about 3mm longer than the "long" OS#8. I am worried it won;t go deep enough into the engine and have read in other threads it is "important to use a long GP for the TH engine"....

Well, it IS a Tower Hobbies engine so I would need to assume that they would recommend the correct plug for THEIR engine. Would be kinda foolish to do otherwise. Use the OS #8.
