IMO he owes you nothing except maybe to help repair it if it can be fixed. It was an accident and this will cost you a friendship AND a plane if you push the issue. Next time show him the proper method for doing the task requested. He may have been a little careless but things happen. Was the plane too big to carry like he probably should have done?

well he could of carried it but i just told him to push it back to the truck. so i guess its kinda my fault.

If you haven't already asked him to help pay for it, it's probably too late. Just move on and rebuild...it'll be good experience

Ridiculous. It'll take the average modeler an hour or so to fix that. I've stepped on my own plane's tail before when going to step in front of the horizontal stab to hold it for a run-up. Accidents happen...
