I ran another tank through it today, I think it's starting to break in. I finally was able to start to lean it out. hopefully I'll get another few tanks through it before the first. I plan on getting a video of it in action then... I got new batterys for the camera in the flight box!!!

we went to the field today and got some footage of the Cub in action. from everything I've read the XLS should still have more in it.
enjoy!!!

my guess is 40-50MPH, I'm still trying to get the tune dialed in, the transition from low to full throttle is rough and I'm not getting the RPM this motor should be pulling. I'm going to switch to a long glow plug, the guy at my LHS thought it would hit but after reading the manual the engine calls for one.

and... good point on the reference point, next time I'll keep the plane lower

Totally cool man! Try an A3 plug in that bad boy. What percent nitro are you using?

I'm running 15% nitro, I ran 5 tanks of 10% to break it in

I agree with the OS A3, that is what i run in my Magnum .15XL and my XLS. I'm using my XLS on a 36" combat delta, for reference i'm getting 18000rpm on omega 10% with a MA 8x3 prop.

I picked up an A3 plug and a 8x3 MAS prop today. tomorrow I'm going to tach my plane out then change the plug and try again. if I gain some RPM I'll try the 8x4 in flight again, if not I'll install the 8x3 and tach it again. hopefully that will wake up the engine some more and I'll gain some smiles per hour

Well, if you're still not satisfied, you could run 30% nitro.

That's a real neat mod on the SC, did you have to add rear weight for CG?

yes, I added 2oz to the tail. I used the sticker type of wheel weights I got at a tire shop. it's still a touch nose heavy but it flys really nice,it just doesn't float as well as the stock cub. and the landing speed is a little faster then before.

I ran a few set ups today, 1st off the A3 plug makes a huge difference!!! then I added the 8x3 prop, that thing screams now. I did notice with the A3 plug it's a lot more critical of the tune. I had it dead stick on me twice. I ended up putting the thunderbolt plug back in, I lose a bit of RPM but the idle bar and not dead sticking more then make up for it. switching props was enough to get the engine on the pipe. I only gained a few MPH, but I have the sound I was looking for.

Thanks for the video. I was just messing with you about the wings coming off. His came off at the end of the flight,,,,,,,,,,,,,er ah lets say,,,,, vertical landing.
As I remember my XLS responded well to about 20% nitro. I think it really improved the throttle response. As they say, your results may vary.
Great swap BTW. [8D]

I finally got the motor tuned perfect, the plane was flat moving. unfortunately I pulled a little to high "G" maneuver and...
the wing split in half and left the plane about 100ft in the air. heres pics of the aftermath

Man, sorry that happened...but I bought one for a friend and it looked like it would barely hold up to the electric motor to me...I cant believe it made it through that first video...the magnum is a screamer ...so whats next?...like I said over in 1/2a we used to take a $3 foam plane from kmart and glue an .049 on the nose,,after a few flights they (mine anyway) would flutter apart in flight...Rog

I was thinking about getting a GP P-40 to drop the .15 in, unless I do a glow conversion to my parkzone T-28
