Default Sterling Stearman Electric conversion

Hi,
I am converting a Sterling Stearman biplane that my dad built in the seventies as a control line model to electric RC. I have never disassembled a plane before. How do I proceed so that I do not destroy it? The tissue he covered it with was tattered and shredded in places so I need to take the wings off to recover with "some"kote. Also I need to open the fuselage to remove the tank and build a compartment for the battery and amend the firewall to accept the electric motor. Any help I get will be greatly appreciated.

John
