Default Which Charger to buy & which Futaba charge plug?

I am considering buying the accucycle elite charger/discharger /cycler etc, but it list 2 futaba charging plugs,

Connectors to go from the charger to the battery or radio: HCAP0101....FUTABA J Tx/Rx LEADS ALL RADIOS EXCEPT 9VAP HCAP0102....FUTABA J Tx/Rx LEADS 9VAP ONLY
I've just bought a Futaba 6EX...which one do I need?? any comments on the charger??
Do you need to discharge NiCDs ...what about the receiver batteries...discharged, then recharge or just charge?

I have the usual small slow wall chargers that are used with the transmitter and small chargers for the rec. batteries but my work can be 8 or 24 hours at a time so would I be better with this charger(something I don't have to watch so close)? I've also heard of some using a rapid charger at the field... will this work there?
My receiver batteries are NiCd 600 & 1500 mah. Any suggestions ...new deal for me

Thanks, David

I have this charger and I use it at home and at the field. The guy I fly with has one also.

They only costs $139.95 currently. I think I pd $109.95 for mine a couple years ago. It comes with a big 12 volt power supply

This might have already been decided, but if you are into electric flying and you have or want lipos, you may want to pick a different charger. The Accucyle Elite says that it will only charge up to a 3 cell lipo. My money would be to buy the following for $25 plus shipping. http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...w/_accessories

It does up to 6 cells(lipo) and all of your other needs. It just needs a 12V power supply. You can easily and cheaply convert a PC power supply to use.
Just my 2 cents,
Curtis

This is a great charger, and they have dropped the price down to $22.99. You can buy a 12V power supply with it for another $10-15, or convert a PC supply, or just use it on your car battery.

They go out of stock frequently, but they come back pretty often. If you can wait, this thing is the best deal out there.

Good luck

Actually, it looks more like the one they have for $109.95. That is the one without the internal power supply.

Either way, you'd be nuts to buy those Horizon chargers. I know that Horizon has great customer service, but that does not justify 4X the price.

The Turnigy and Imax chargers from Hobby City are both great.

Also the Turnegy doesn't discharge

The no discharge and no power supply would make little difference to me but to some of you it may be very important.

So be careful of the specs.

Actually, if the Turnigy is the same as the Accucel-6 they have been selling for years, it does discharge at up to 5 watts. I use it to cycle batteries all of the time.

The Turnigy Accucel 6 does discharge and cycle. It lets you pick how many cycles you want to run, and it keeps the data on how many mah go back in on each cycle.

Looking at these Turnigy chargers "Acuccel 6 50watt charger". Friend has a Venomwhich looks identical. Who has used the Turnigy charger? is it by the same co out of china and they make the chager for Venom also? Just since Venom has a more well known name they can charge more?
