Recommendations about finishing the flight box
I am ready to put the finish on a GreatPlanes Master Caddy flight box. I am going to paint the flight box.
The manufacturer's instructions say to first, seal the wood with a light coat of polyester resin, coating epoxy or polyutherane, followed by several coats of primer, then a fireproof paint which is compatible with the primer.
Any recommendations about which products to use?
Finally, after several coats of paint do I want to add several coats of a clear, fireproof finish? If so, which one?
As always, thanks for the help.

RE: Recommendations about finishing the flight box
I have had good success with Valspar "Tractor and Implement" spray paint from Tractor Supply. Doesn't need a clear topcoat but will need several coats for new wood. No idea what primer would be needed for wood . . . but it works with none as long as the wood has been sealed.

If you really want to doll it up automotive Dupli-Color spray paint with their clear coat will look great and hold up pretty well. I know some guys have used it for airplanes, but no experience here on that. One option though if you don't want to spend $20 painting your field box is to use the cheap primer and spray paint from Wal Mart, then thin some epoxy with alcohol and paint it on as a clear coat.
