How do I pick the next plane ?
 

I am not a beginner, but I am confused and lost, trying to pick my next plane.
This problem started after I crashed the UCD. At first I wanted a 70" Slick as a replacement . But a friend let me fly a Super Sportster and I loved it. Now my 3D goals do not seem so important .
What should I do for my next plane? Sport or 3D ?

Note : Right now I fly a Cub , Showtime , Twist , and a small 42" Slick (Electric)

Sport.  On the other hand, you can always fly a 3-D plane as sport but not vice versa.  (Ultimate biplanes make great sport fliers).  I fatally treed my Goldberg Hot Stik and up 'till then it was the best of both worlds.  A Stik on low rates and a spastic 3-D on high rates.  I had it on skis at a winter fly and misjudged a killer maple.  Now sadly discontinued.  TowerGreatPlanesHobbico was to Goldberg what that tree was to my Hot Stik.  Large, unforgiving and hungry.

But I sure love my Giant Super Sportster.  It does everything I need a model to do.  If I wanted a helicopter I could have bought one.

Oh heck, get one of each.

So are you looking for a large plane?You are past a second plane right? My second was the Great Planes Escapade and it is my favorite flying plane, currently. You just cant beat the price too.

You've got a Showtime and a Twist, I'd say go for a sport plane to round things out

Yeah, I third that. My plane of choice is the Skylark 70 with an OS .75 AX. I love mine.

you already have a showtime and twist. Those are really sport models and not true 3D aircraft.

If it were me, I'd go hard core 3D. Look at Extreme Flight, Precision Aerobatics, or 3dhobbyshop.

You buy planes based on your goals in the hobby. That Twist is a great sport plane and will do some 3d with the right setup. If you don't care about extreme 3d, then don't buy a 3d plane; just fly the sport planes you have or get another one.

Being in the same predicament I can probably tell you. If you just want some 3D (a bit of hovering, flat spins, harriers, rolling circles etc) do that with the Twist or Showtime. If you want to do more, you can get a GP Reactor Bipe. Its a larger engine class airplane in a compact size. If you want all out 3D, get a profile in 40-60 size or go direct to a Reactor 50cc or so with a gas engine

When I want to fly 3D, I just put on a pair of these and I'm-good-to-go!!

Flat spins and rolling circles are not "3-D".  They are real aerobatics and any good sport model can do them.    :D

Ditto... you do not have a hard core 3d plane. If you want to do 3d you need something a little better suited.... you will find it a little easier too. If you're not concerened about 3d then you have a lot to pick from!

One plane I have the most fun with and I fly it when I need a quick fix at any small field... football, baseball, etc. The PA Addiction, the only negative is they are pricey for their size, some what fragile, and the US distributor is less than stellar IMHO.

PA has a new Addiction X that just came out too in the 50" size. It's supposedly the easiest 3D model to fly that PA has ever made. Folks are apparently hovering on their first try.

Get a foamy!!! DWFoamies, E-Foamy(MidwestFoamPlanes), Charger RC, very inexpensive, tons of fun and they fly well, that way you got some great flying fun till you figure out what plane to get next.
