RE: Receivers
If I've learned anything in this hobby it's that good and cheap do not go together. The Spectrum park flyer recievers aren't that much more expensive than the knockoffs, and you can trust them.

RE: Receivers
Hobby King and Hobby City are the same company. If there are any other clone sellers, they get the stuff from the same place so the chances of finding them in stock anywhere is slim.
You really have two choices... Pay normal price for Spektrum or wait however long it takes to get the clones. Advantage http://www.advantagehobby.com has free shipping on most orders over $50 which saves a little compared to buying from Horizon. |
RE: Receivers
I did some looking and it's $15 for the knock off from Hobby King and $50 for the Spectrum park flyer receiver. That's a difference of $35 per unit. Maybe the Orange Rx is built well with good components in a very efficient factory using $2 an hour workers, or maybe it's a cheap knockoff. When you do the math, a major component like a receiver can cost you far more than $35. If you buy the real unit, you'll have something you can trust and over the course of several planes you use it in the actual cost per hour of usage will be negligible in the long run.

RE: Receivers
Or you could have a midair and watch your expensive receiver go down in a swamp. There are arguments on both sides of the equation.
I save money where I can but Iam careful about it. Ihave seen expensive 2.4G systems fly away at our field for no reason, the plane was recovered and no reason could be found for the failure. |
RE: Receivers
the price of a receiver is cheap when compaired to the price of an airplane, motor, and servos....the feeling you'll have as you watch it fly off or make a hole will be anything but priceless......
Like everyone says there are things you can go cheap on and things you can't.....ez clip on a throttle arm, If you have to OK....on a control surface...no way....Trust 350 bucks to a knock off receiver to save 35 is penny wise and dollar foolish |
RE: Receivers
I have watched a lot of park flyer fly at our field and not oneflown off or crash with knockoff receiver in them we have two pilots that have flown for over 50 years and they use knockoff receiver in there plane .So if they can do it why shouldn't I. No disrespect to you gays you are giving good information but I'm on a vary low budget and i got to do what i can do to keep flying . Thanks to everyone.

RE: Receivers
there is a difference in a park flyer and a larger model....a park flyer as a general rule is closer to the transmtter than larger aircraft......that is one of the reasons for AMA's park flyer pilot program.....
