Well, there isn't much to look forward to as far as flying here this weekend, unless the plane has ski's mounted.

We got another 10 inches of snow this today. It's the soft fluffy stuff, easy to move around, but not easy to fly off of without large ski's.

Of course, the driving is awfull because of the folks that feel that their 4wd cars, suv's, and trucks give them some sort of advantage so they try to drive faster than others. I saw five accidents in 20 minutes earlier. Not nice.

So, here we go again.. and the field was pretty much inaccessable after the last storm, so I imagine it will be tough going again for a few days.

Not much flying down here in the Sunshine State either its been pretty windy with the frontal passages. Did fly a student the other day for a few flights until he felt too uncomfortable with the winds we had, pretty much above the crosswind component for his trainer winds aloft even stronger. Its been hard to get good training time in lately the winds are up just an hour or so after dawn if they even calm down at all.[:o]

I woke up this morning with plans to fly but it was foggy, dreary and somewhat cold. I probably could have flown later in the afternoon if I wanted to bad enough but I figured I would just wait for a better day and get some stuff done around the house.

Sorry to learn about it. This is what I like about Texas even in winter cold days, you get the pleasure of summer:D but wind and rain[:@] coming up and cold front as well. I got to fly my plane and it was beautiful sunny day. Dick, come to TX and fly with us:D

Jacksonville is pretty much a wind out as well.....I don't mind flying in the wind, but it's no fun when it's so windy you can't taxi because the wind is pushing the rudder over and you can't turn.
When the wind is out of the southwest like last Sunday we get some wicked rolling turbulence while on final. it stops about 100 ft from the threshold.....should have seen the neat crab while holding runway heading with my 18 LB Pitts Python.
It's supposed to be windy again today, But I'm going to try and fly the P-47 early before it gets to bad....
But you know what Dick.....I don't miss the snow....If I ever get to thinking snow is ok, I remind myself the snow is ok only on the first day.....
Heck this is Florida these people can't drive in rain.....I live in the single car accident capital of the world...can you imagine snow on the ground

Don't you call these "Building Weekends"?

I seem to be accumulating more planes than my Wife thinks I need, strictly because with my limited time and working indoors all week, I hate to spend a nice day indoors building. I want to get out and fly, so having some unflyable weekends is good for the fleet.

Your right about many folks not being able to drive well in the rain in Florida. I've lived most of my life in Florida except for short periods in snow country. We may not have real snow and ice very often, but there is what we call "Florida Ice". Where if it doesn't rain for a while, or enough to wash the roads clean intersections often get slick with oil buildup. Add a little water to the oil soaked areas it can cause problems.

oil on the roads happen every where not just Florida...I grew up in Missouri I can remember seeing oil in the rain puddles.

Yesterday I went out to Lake Mead to fly. It was 50 degrees when I got there. Other then the over cast sky it was perfect for flying. Today is even better, no over cast and even warmer. Sure hope it will stay this way the rest of winter. I really do hate the cold. I tried to take some photos of the view we have at that field but some dumbass left his camera turned on for a couple of weeks. New batteries didn't help it at all. That dumbass really messed something up???:eek:

Basically is pretty much a low cloud at ground level. It's really all we have to complain about weather-wise around here though. Well, other than the summer heat. It rains now and then but not day after day like some parts of the country and it can dip down into the 20's &amp; 30's for a few winter mornings but that's nothing compared to what a lot of folks have to put up with.

Ihear more bad wetaher may be headed to the northeast?

Man, I just can't get away from this white stuff. I'm on business travel in Louisville, KY and we can't fly our test profiles (full scale) due to weather. So, here I am, in Louisville, at the Marriott Residence Inn, and I'm not only grounded, but the weather is terrible with snow and visibility about a half mile. Yuk.

Well i have been reading of all the snow that has stopped all flying for the time being. I know how you feel , not being able to fly as here in my State of Queensland , Australia, over one million square kilometers of this state is under flood waters. So is Mother NAture against us flying models???

It was wierd. The temps in Louisville were pretty much below freezing all week. The "storm" hit on Tuesday, but we had "snow showeres" all week except for late yesterday and today. And, it remained cold.

We flew back today, and when I got home, well, more of the same.. right around two degrees below freezing. It's supposed to warm up over the weekend and into next week, but we will see. Meanwhile, no flying. The access road is not driveable.. yet.
