Second aircraft

I'm currently flying a Carl goldberg eaglet and looking for a second aircraft. My LHS has a tai-ji 40 completely ready to fly, plane fully built, electronics, engine, everything for $300. I'm going to change out the recover for a 2.4GHZ one, I have a DX6i that came with my blade 400. What do you guys think or should I browse some more.

What is the engine?

How much time do you have on the trainer? If memory serves, the Tai-Ji is more of a pattern plane. There might be a better choice relative to your stick time.

The consensus at my field is that a Stick is the ideal 2nd plane.

Such as the Great Planes Big Stick:

It really depends on your flying ability. When i learned to fly I flew a trainer till the wings were about to rip off. From there I skipped the traditional low wing trainer and went right to a Extra 300S. I never had any issues and it flew like a dream on low rates. Low wing trainers make great sport models and are still fun to fly once you have moved outside of their range. I think you would be fine with model you have chosen as long as you have someone thier to back you up and help you till you get comfortable with the higher performance capabilities of that model. Good luck!
