New Builder
I just built my first kit. Boy, I didn't know what I was getting into. My first mistake was picking a very big kit. It was a BTE model Flyin-King. The kit was awesome, and Bruce was always available to help. I was wondering if there are some pictures of finished Flyin-King's that could be sent to me so that I could see how mine compares? If possible send to e-mail (sgtflyboyretiredhotmail.com). Thanks.

RE: New Builder
I THINK, ouch, that hurt, there is a build thread on the king in the kit building forum. Just go there and if you can't find it do a search.

RE: New Builder
Wow, talk about taking the lure and heading for the bottom!!!! When you go in, you go all in!!!!!! That is indeed a big plane to start with, so a big pat on the back is due for you if you have finished it. Do you have any pictures of the plane??

RE: New Builder
Congratulations on finishing that as a first build!! The youth program I teach for (junioraviators.org) is building a 'King ( and has been for the last several winters) and we're doing a little bashing by making it a twin engine tail dragger. I'll post some pic's early next week. It's a really good kit, but I would not recommend it for someones first build. The instructions assume some prior building experience and it has a lot of stick building. Those are the only reasons that keep it off my "first-timer" list. Post some pictures and let us see how it turned out!

Check Bruce's BTE web site. He has links to a site with Flying King photos.

RE: New Builder
I have looked at all of the planes posted to the BTE site, and looking for some others, might show a little more detail during the building. Thanks for the reply. I haven't covered it yet, but really anxious to see what my finished product is going to look like. I didn't know that there was so much stick work was involved. When I ordered the kit, I was looking for the parts being I.D. like a laser cut kit. I'm glad that I'm an old farmer and and flt engineer so between the two careers I was able to make it work.
