i to have been flying a short time and getting tired of the avistar... im surely glad i got the avistar i probably would have stopped flying because of boredom if i would have got a LT-40....

ditto!!! Atleast you can do some tricks with the Avistar. I am just ready for something with a little more zip!!

i need to get a JOB!!! grrrrr im looking at 3 airplanes for my second plane... well it will catually be my 5th airplane :D
1st plane..Firebird II 2nd...........GWS Slow Stick 3rd............GWS Beaver 4th............Avistar 40LA the plane im looking at seriously are... Great Planes Venus Seagull Edge 540 or since im totally broke maybe the Cermark Bobcat that comes with free engine and servos.... all 3 of these airplanes are either covered with monocoat or ultracote :D no more sticky paper covering for me anymore! |

Glad to hear of your progress. The way you have been practicing to land is the proper way to land no matter if it is a tail dragger or trike. You never want to land on your nose gear. Tail draggers are made for rough fields as long as it's not TOO rough. The Dragon Lady and the Chipmonk should fly similarly. midnitedew, Good to hear that you guys are ready to move up but what do you think the Avistar can do that the LT40 can't do? |

Don't know how fast you want to roll but it will do the rest. Cuban 8s, hammerheads, rolling circles, inverted flight..... knife edge isn't the greatest ;) . Of course a three channel Kadet Sr. is capable of doing these things too, but "it ain't pretty".

i dont think anything the lt-40 does looks pretty, except maybe landing.... i have seem a few of these flying now and they all seem like pigs.. one guy has a 61 2 stroke and the other i think has a 72 4 stroke and they both seem to fly like pigs... maybe if a guy took a bunch of the dhedral out the wing it would look pretty...

Hmmm...... I never flew one with anything more than a 40. Maybe those guys created a pig by using bigger engines and then had to add weight to balance it. A good 40 is all it needs.

i've also seem the fly with 40's and 46's im just under the belief that anything thing the lt-40 can do the avistar can do better....

Thanx for the input causeitflies!! I am a little concerned about the chippy since it does have retracts. A fello told me that I could go with larger wheels however "DO NOT RETRACT THEM" :rolleyes: I will just wait and see. Hopefully I will have something going soon on a second plane. There is one other thing I need to practice more of and that is using the rutter. I did so major B-%@ landings yesterday due to some gusty cross winds. It looks really cool till you actually get down on the ground :D . Perhapse I could design landing gear to turn like that of the B 52 That would be really cool!!! :)
