Flaperon question, please help!
 

Hello everyone, I was wondering if it's possible to mix the travel of the servos somehow to prevent the servos from traveling past their normal range and causing binding while on flaperon mode?

The thing is that I set my flaperons and they work great but the thing is that once they are engaged and the ailerons are moved the servos travel too far on the down motion and bind. I was wondering if it's possible to somehow use the mixing to keep the servo from traveling so far down while on flap mode.

Any help would be highly appreciated and thanks in advanced. By the way I have a dx7 ar6200 set up.

I am assuming that you are testing this on the ground.

Once you are in the air, and flaps are deployed, you SHOULD only need small aileron movements - It's not like you're going to be doing a roll with your flaps down

Typically with many radios the use of a flaperon mix using only two surfaces on the wing will require considerable end point reductions. Although I cannot speak for Spectrum. Actually since you chose to post this in the beginners forum I would suggest that flaperons are a very poor idea for beginners and it will only prolong your learning curve and possibly make it more expensive in terms of damaged aircraft.

True flaperons with only two surfaces is bad idea in the learning environment.

Yes all the testing is being done on the ground, dies anyone know how to set the end points while the flaperOns are installed on the dx7? I just want to set them up and have it ready to go. And ofcourse I don't want to do rolls while landing I just don't want to bind the servo or possibly break off an aileron due to excessive servo throw. Any help with the dx7 set would be highly appreciated

What radio are you using? When I setup flaperons on an LT-40 with a Futaba EX6 cheapy radio, the flaperon function cut the aileron throw in half, even when the flaps were not deployed. This obviously made my rolls a lot slower, but it left some travel room in the servo for when the flaps were fully deployed. So basically when the flaperons were down, it was equal to about half of my normal aileron travel. When I would then apply aileron control, it had the remaining 50% of throw so it wouldn't bind. This was all built in to the computer's flaperon function. I guess I'm just curious if your radio is doing the same or if it is allowing the full range of motion with your flaperons setup.

ok when the flap mode is off the ailerons get the full 100+- as i move the stick to the first position it sends the servo throw past the 100 position and causes binding, the same goes for the second flap position. I am using a dx7 im sure theres a way to set the endpoints it's just giving me a hard time.

If you are using "flaperon" wing mixing on the TX, then aileron movement and flaperon movement each have their own max travel values.

Adjust the flaperon travel to a lower amount. I'll bet you have it maxed out which is the default.

that's the thing i don't have it maxed out, i have it set to 0,25,75. What is the differential adjustment for?
