Tiger 60 Engine Installation
 

Hi All,

Iam busy building the Greatplanes Tiger 60.

Ineed to install the engine and this is my first build where Ineed to add right thrust. Can anyone give me ideas on how to add the 1.5 degree right thrust?
Icannot find how far forward to mount the engine. Do Ijust mount the engine where the tip of the fuselage and the back of the spinner have minimal clearance?

Normally, this is already factored in with the firewall installation. Check the manual. If it is, well, you just mount the engine square with the firewall.

Surprisingly, The Tiger 60 does not put the right thrust in by slanting the firewall. You will need to put some thin washers behind the left side of the engine mount when attaching it to the firewall. You can add one at a time until the take off roll feels comfortable to you. The nice thing about this method is that by adding an additional washer or two on the top engine mount screw, you can also add downthrust if you find that the model needs it. I wouldn't do this until you've flown it and find it needs it.

@dredhea thanks for the tips.  makes sense and I also would not need to try and figure out 2 degrees of right thrust.  I am excited to get the engine in :-)

Brad if you have not mounted the engine yet. I like to use it to help set the CG. I put everything in the plane except the battery pack and engine. I turn the plane over on the CG machine and set the engine(with muffler,prop, and spinner) on the bottom of the mount. Then set the battery pack where you have a good spot. Then the engine can be slide slightly forward or aft until you achieve the CG you need. Another way would be to thin CA the engine to the mount with the spinner clearance you described above. Then point it on the CG stand and find the CG with the battery pack. If the pack needs to be way forward or aft, then pop the engine off the mount, re glue in a better spot and try again. I am not bragging but I have about 15 planes in my shop and there no lead in any of them.
