buddy box with a DX7

Hi. I have a question for everyone. I was at the field thurs, and everyone was getting my plane set up for me, and they asked me if I had a buddy box chord. My reply was, "I didnt think I needed one. With the DX7 I thought you could do that wireless" Everyone kinda looked at me funny. My question is, did I not understand what I was reading, and you need a chord, or can you really buddy box wireless with the DX7? Ill re-read the directions and see if i understand what im reading this time.
P.S. I never did maiden my plane that day, see, our club is in Carlisle, Pa. and it was thursday evening when i was there, you know, when the tornado warning was out, and we ended up getting heavy winds, rain and hail! lol. maybe next week.</p>

RE: buddy box with a DX7

The simplest, least expensive, and most common buddy box set up for a DX7 is the buddy box cord going to another JR transmitter. You do need the cord, and then have to make sure the control set up on the buddy box matchs the settings (servo direction, trims, etc.) of the master transmitter.

That said, there are wireless buddy box set ups offered by third party vendors. They are more expensive than the cord, but give you the freedom to move around. Personally, I think you'd want to be close to the person using the master transmitter so the two of you can let each other know who's got control of the airplane.

As said above, you will require another JR TX with the DSC plug in it for the slave, To set up see page 41 in the instruction manual.

Cheers
